Rampada sollama beni, düzlükte ezerim seni
Gigabyte’lar dolusu veriye sahip oyunlar ve onların yeni ev sahipleri DVD’ler... Fazla uzağa gitmeye gerek yok, geçtiğimiz yıla kadar oyunlar genelde iki CD olarak piyasaya çıkardı. Yavaş yavaş CD sayısının artması ile çözüm ucuzlayan DVD medyaları ile sağlandı. 3-4 Gb sınırında dolaşan oyunlar eskisi kadar büyük görünmemeye başladı gözümüze. Yıllardır artan veri boyutuna direnen, ısrarla oyunu sattıranın büyüklüğü olmadığını kanıtlamaya çalışan tek bir yapım mevcut: 18 Wheels of Steel, namı diğer Hard Truck.

Keramet oyunun büyülüğünde değil

18 Wheels of Steel geleneği bozmuyor ve zamanının en az veri boyutuna sahip oyunu olarak piyasaya çıkıyor. Son versiyonlarında 90-150Mb derken, Haulin 350Mb olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. Her zamanki gibi oyunumuzun amacı aynı: Yük taşımacılığı. Haulin’de de Amerika eyaletleri arasında istediğimiz kargo yükünü kamyonumuza yüklüyor ve yerine ulaştırmaya çalışıyoruz. Yapımdaki bir yenilikte, genel olarak kargoların artık zaman limitli taşınmaması. Önceki versiyonlarda panik halinde bir yandan direksiyon salladığımı, bir yandan da uyku, mola, benzin alma gibi aktivitelerle kargoyu zamanında ulaştırıp ulaştıramayacağımı hesapladığımı hatırlıyorum. Önceki oyunlarda bir açıkta bu noktada patlak veriyordu. Özellikle şehir gibi yerlerde sıkça rastladığınız, kırmızı ışıkların hepsinde beklemeye kalkarsanız kargo asla vaktinde yetişmiyordu.
