ABD'li motor mühendisleri tarafından geliştirilen Maxximus G-Force adlı araba, sıfırdan 100 kilometre hıza 2.134 saniyede çıkıyor.
Sıfırdan 160 kilometreye de 4.541 saniyede çıkan araç, eski hız rekorlarını da kırmış oldu.
Bin 600 beygir gücündeki arabanın hız rekorları ABD'deki Dünya Rekorları Akademisi tarafından da tescillendi.
Arabanın yaratıcıları olan ABD'li işadamı David Bruce McMahan ve tasarımcı Marlon Kirby, 2 yıl boyunca büyük bir gizlilikle yürüttükleri proje sayesinde ortaya çıkan aracın yakın gelecekte daha gelişmiş versiyonlarını üretmeyi amaçladıklarını söyledi.
THE DESIGNER - Marlon Kirby
Marlon Kirby's parents knew their son would be all about speed when he was just a toddler. When he was five years old his father, Dave, got him started driving quarter-sized midget cars. When he was ten he got his own '67 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport. With a 4-speed 327 engine.
By the time Marlon was twelve he started making changes to his engine, replacing the spark plugs, and changed the jets on his carburetor to improve the performance of his "Little Deuce Coup."
Marlon played football and did well as a competitive wrestler, but cars were always his first love. He started Maxximus Technologies in 2000, in Indianapolis, and for a few years worked on other people's cars. Occasionally he would have to work other jobs, like limo driving, in order to support his wife and two children. But he never gave up on the idea of building a car of his own, a car that would show the world his skills as a designer.
It was while working as a chauffeur that he met David B. McMahan. McMahan also loved fast cars and dreamed of owning a one-of-a-kind car that was unique, street legal, and a record breaker. In the course of a limo ride he agreed to finance the building and design of the G-Force!
THE RECORDS
On the morning of October 7th, 2008, at the Rockingham, NC raceway, the Maxximus set three new World Records and is now unquestionably the fastest street car on the globe. Marlon Kirby drove:
0 - 60 mph: 2.134 seconds, breaking his old WWR of 2.3 seconds. The record that stood for years was 2.6 seconds. No more!
0 - 100 mph: 4.541 seconds, eclipsing the again long standing previous record of 5.3 seconds!
0 - 100 mph - 0: 8.861 seconds, again shutting down with finality the previous long standing record of 9.4 seconds!
The Maxximus' previous success was on September 9th, 2008 at The Rock (the Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina), when Marlon first broke the 0 - 60 mph World Record with 2.3 seconds.
